Our Values

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

Love

We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to be known for our love for one another. You are welcome as you are.

Worship

We strive to glorify God through worship that is rooted in scripture, and that draws us closer to Him.

Unity

We seek to foster unity in diversity, standing together as a church family united in our purpose of sharing God’s love.

Service

We are called to serve our community and those in need, through both physical and spiritual acts of love and kindness.

Evangelism

We believe in sharing our personal stories of where we have seen God at work in the world, and trust that God is at work even when evidence can be difficult to see.

Discipleship

We prioritize helping others grow in the faith, helping them to grow in their understanding of the Bible and their relationship with God.

Stewardship

We strive to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us as members of Creation, and recognize giving as form of worship.

Our Beliefs

We invite you to explore our beliefs as a United Methodist Church and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • God the Creator

We believe God created the world and everything in it. Because of this, we care for our neighbors and the environment as part of God’s good creation.

  • Jesus the Redeemer

Jesus shows us the way of compassion, forgiveness, mercy, and love. Through Him, we are redeemed and called to live by His example.

  • The Holy Spirit Our Sustainer

The Holy Spirit is our Advocate in prayer and our Guide in serving God’s Kingdom each day.

  • All Are Welcome

We welcome YOU - with all your questions, challenges, mistakes, hopes, dreams, experiences, and uniqueness. All ages, abilities, and identities. You are welcome here.

  • A Place for Questions

Faith is a journey, and it’s okay to have questions. Asking, seeking, and learning help us grow deeper in our relationship with God. As United Methodists, we believe that scripture is foundational to our faith and we have traditional ways of understanding and interpreting scripture. But we also believe that personal experience and reason, in conversation and prayer, lead us on our journey as well. Our faith is always growing and changing.

  • Strength Through Struggles

We believe God meets us in our struggles, and that faith can become stronger on the other side of life’s challenges. The Aldersgate community supports one another in all things.

  • A Servant’s Heart

We are called to serve with love—for God, for one another, and for the city we call home. We do our best to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we build new ministry areas and partner with other worship communities and organizations to take care of the world around us.

  • Life Together in Community

Through worship, Bible studies, meals, and ministries, we grow in faith and support one another with help, hope, and hospitality.

  • Spirit-Led Ministry

From our Food for All food pantry to Stephen Ministry, from Eldersgate Senior Ministries and Green Team creation care ministry, from music ministry to HOPE Letters sharing encouragement with men and women who are incarcerated, we seek practical, Spirit-led ways to share God’s love.
